Given your car's symptoms, I'd suggest a visit to a workshop. A defective AC control unit is a strong possibility, and you'll need a professional to confirm and eventually fix it. I'm afraid there is not much to DIY here.

Thank you! I followed your advice and took it to a workshop. Turns out, it was indeed the AC control unit, just like you suspected. The final repair cost was around 980€, which is quite a bit, but at least the issue is resolved now. Appreciate the insights!
