I haven't checked the air filter, but I will. How did you determine it was the MAF sensor on your Volvo?

Well, I initially cleaned the MAF sensor which helped for a little bit, but the symptoms came back. I then replaced it, and that fixed the problems for good. Given your symptoms and the car's mileage, it's likely the MAF sensor is faulty. I'd recommend getting it checked at a workshop to be sure. Could be expensive.

Thanks for the advice. I had it checked, and you were right – it was a defective mass air flow sensor. The repair cost me 365€ Appreciate the help!

Sounds like it could be the mass air flow (MAF) sensor. I had similar symptoms on my old Volvo – higher fuel consumption, rough idle, and eventually the check engine light. Have you checked your air filter recently? A dirty filter can mess with the air-fuel ratio and damage the MAF sensor.
