Thanks for the reply. I have not checked the brake switch. Where exactly is it located and is it difficult to access?

Honestly, I'm not 100% sure where it is on your 408. On my V60, it was a pain to get to, tucked away near the pedal assembly. Given the symptoms and the fact that it's a relatively new car but with pretty high mileage, it's probably the electric motor in the brake caliper. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. It could save you a lot of time and frustration in the long run. It cost me 600€ back then, so prepare for something in that range. Good luck!

Thanks a lot for your help! I took it to the shop, and you were right; the electric motor in the brake calliper was defective. The repair cost 505€. Appreciate the advice!

Oh, that sounds rough. I had a similar issue with my old Volvo V60 a few years back. The symptoms were almost identical: parking brake failure, error codes popping up, and a very annoying warning light. Have you checked the brake switch? It might be a simple fix, although in my case it wasn't.
