Peugeot 408 rain light sensor fault
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Peugeot 408 diesel experienced a rain-light sensor fault, leading to non-functional automatic wipers, headlights, and speedometer dimming, with lights turning on unexpectedly. The issue was traced to bubbles forming under the gel pad on the windshield, affecting the sensor's performance. Replacing the gel pad resolved the problem, restoring all affected functions.

That's interesting! So it's probably the auto sensor then. When you say similar, do you mean all the same issues? Did you also have the problem with the speedometer dimming and the lights switching on?

Yeah, all the same symptoms. The headlights and speedometer thing were the weirdest part, haha! I'd say take it to a workshop. They'll probably tell you the same thing about the gel pad, but at least you'll know for sure.

Thanks for the info! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. The gel pad was indeed the issue, causing the rain-light sensor fault. They replaced it, and everything's working perfectly again. Cost me 62€. I appreciate the help!

Hey! I had something similar happen in my 408. No rain-sensing wipers or auto headlights! Seems like your auto sensor is acting up. Is your car showing any other weird electrical gremlins?
