Peugeot 5008 Exhaust Treatment Malfunction

I'm having trouble with my 2018 Peugeot 5008 gasoline, around 196499 km. I'm getting an "Exhaust treatment malfunction" error. The check engine light is on, the engine runs rough, and there's a noticeable exhaust leak with a strong smell. Could this be a defective lambda sensor or the particulate filter? I'm not sure where the exhaust leak is coming from.

I had a similar issue with my 5008. Rough running and that engine light are never fun. Could it be related to the DEF fluid or the NOx sensors instead of the lambda? Have you checked those?

That's interesting! I hadn't considered the DEF fluid or NOx sensors. Where exactly should I be looking to check those? Are there any telltale signs I should be aware of?

Honestly, without specialist tools, it's tricky to diagnose those properly. My issue ended up being a faulty sensor, and replacing it sorted everything out. It might be worth taking it to a workshop to get it scanned. Probably a lambda sensor, which cost me around 375€ to get sorted.

Thanks for the advice! I'm going to book it in with a local workshop this week. I appreciate you sharing your experience; hopefully, it's just a sensor like yours was. I'll post the resolution here. Thanks again!
