Peugeot 5008 higher fuel consumption starting trouble
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Peugeot 5008 diesel is experiencing higher fuel consumption and difficulty starting, with diagnostics pointing to a failing accelerator pedal module. Similar issues have been noted by others, suggesting gradual symptom onset and non-specific diagnostic trouble codes. Suggested solutions include checking the air intake for obstructions, throttle cleaning, and ultimately replacing the accelerator pedal module, which has resolved the issue for others at a cost of around 200€.

Thanks! Did the symptoms appear gradually, or was it sudden? Were there any specific DTCs for the accelerator pedal module, or were they more general?

It was gradual, almost like a slow burn. No sudden 'Aha!' moment, just a creeping realization that things weren't quite right. As for the codes, yeah, there were a few thrown, but nothing super specific at first. It was more like the car was hinting at something being off, rather than screaming about a definite problem. To be honest, after trying a few things myself (throttle cleaning, checking connections), I bit the bullet and took it to the shop. They pinpointed the accelerator pedal module pretty quickly. Cost me about 200€, but at least it solved the problem!

I appreciate the feedback and shared experiences. Your insights have affirmed my suspicion and provided valuable context. I will proceed with a workshop diagnosis and anticipate a similar resolution. The estimated repair cost of 205€ aligns with your experience, further substantiating the likelihood of the accelerator pedal module being the cause. Thanks again.

Whoa, sounds familiar! I've got a Peugeot 5008, too, and experienced something eerily similar. Higher fuel consumption was the first sign – like watching my money drain away faster than usual! The rough starting was the clincher. It felt like the engine was fighting itself. Think of it like trying to breathe through a clogged straw. Did you check the air intake for any obstructions? Maybe try some throttle cleaning before diving into replacing parts?
