Peugeot 5008 Steering Wheel Multifunction Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Peugeot 5008 owner reported a malfunction with the multifunction steering wheel, suspecting a defective cable connection. A suggestion was made to check the clock spring, a common cause of such issues. The constant illumination of the malfunction indicator supported this theory. The problem was confirmed to be a defective connection within the steering wheel, which was resolved at a local garage.

Thanks for the suggestion! I hadn't considered the clock spring specifically. When you say 'clock spring', are you referring to the rotary coupling that maintains the electrical connection to the steering wheel controls? And yes, the malfunction indicator is constantly illuminated.

Yep, rotary coupling, clock spring, tomato, tomato. Since the light's always on, you're probably right about a bad connection. Honestly, you might be better off taking it to a workshop. Messing with airbags isn't worth the risk, IMO.

Thanks for the advice; that confirms my suspicions. I took it to a local garage. Turns out it was, indeed, a defective connection within the steering wheel. The repair, including parts and labor, came to 95€. Appreciate the help!

Whoa, sounds like a PITA. Have you checked the clock spring? That's usually the culprit when your steering wheel controls go bonkers. Is the malfunction indicator constantly on or is it intermittent?
