Peugeot 508 Diesel Cold Start Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Peugeot 508 diesel is experiencing poor engine performance during cold starts, with increased fuel consumption and a stored fault in the error memory. The suspected cause is a faulty PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) heater. Confirmation from another owner with a similar issue suggests that the electric auxiliary heater is likely defective. The solution involves having the PTC heater checked and replaced, which resolved the problem and improved engine performance.

Yes, it definitely is! It takes ages to warm up, and even then it's not great. Did you find it was the auxiliary heater?

Yep, it was the electric auxiliary heater. It was defective. I'd get it checked at a workshop; it's the likely culprit.

Appreciate the confirmation! I booked it in, and you were spot on – PTC heater was indeed faulty. Cost me 350€ to fix, but at least it's running smoothly now!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my 508. Is the temperature gauge taking longer than usual to reach normal?
