Peugeot 508 Engine Control Malfunction

My 2010 Peugeot 508 with a gasoline engine is giving me fits. Engine control malfunction, the dash is screaming. It won't start! I'm thinking ECU issue, but where do I even begin? Engine light is on, and I'm getting that sinking feeling it's gonna be expensive. Anyone else experience this kind of engine software nightmare?

I had something similar happen with my 508. Check your battery cable connections. Are they clean and tight?

Battery cables, eh? They looked okay at a glance, but maybe I missed something. You think a loose connection could really cause a full-blown engine control malfunction and prevent the car from starting altogether? It seems a bit extreme, doesn't it?

Yes, I am quite sure. It was enough in my case that the car didn't start. But in the end I let a workshop check the car.

Well, you were spot on! Cleaned and tightened the battery connections, and she fired right up. Turns out, that was the culprit. I still went to the workshop as you suggested. They did a check and it cost me 155€ - not as bad as I was expecting. Thanks a million for the tip!
