Peugeot 508 Overheating Bypass Valve Error

My 2011 Peugeot 508 diesel is acting up! The error memory is full, with a bypass valve error. Plus, the engine's overheating. I've got 117977 km on it. Could a blocked air intake be the cause?

Summary of the thread

A 2011 Peugeot 508 diesel is experiencing overheating and a bypass valve error, with the error memory full. The issue may be linked to a blocked air intake or a larger exhaust system problem, as indicated by engine stalling and poor fuel efficiency. A diagnostic evaluation by a certified workshop is recommended to identify the root cause. The problem was resolved, confirming the bypass valve error was a symptom of another fault.

I have a 508 too, and I had similar problems recently. Were there any engine stalls or fuel efficiency drops beforehand? It could be related to the exhaust system.

Engine stalling, yes, now that you mention it! Fuel efficiency has been terrible too. So, you think this bypass valve error is just a symptom of a bigger exhaust issue?

Correct. In my case, the bypass valve error was consequential. Given the engine stalling and decreased fuel efficiency, I recommend a diagnostic evaluation by a certified workshop to find the root cause.

Thanks! I took your advice, and the workshop sorted it. The bypass valve was a red herring, just a symptom of another fault, like you said. It's fixed, and it was free! Cheers for the help!
