Peugeot 607 Camshaft Sensor Issue

My 2007 Peugeot 607 with a gasoline engine is acting up. It starts poorly, engine power is reduced, and there's an error stored. Mileage is at 27843 km. I suspect the camshaft sensor, maybe a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone else run into this?

Summary of the thread

A 2007 Peugeot 607 with a gasoline engine is experiencing poor starting, reduced engine power, and an error code indicating a camshaft sensor issue. The problem could stem from a defective sensor or faulty wiring. After inspecting the vehicle, a broken wire in the connector was found and replaced, resolving the issue without needing to replace the sensor.

Camshaft position issues, eh? I had similar problems with my 607. Rough idling was terrible. Check engine light constantly on. Did you scan the error memory? What code are you pulling?

Yeah, scanned it. Points straight to the camshaft sensor. You think it's worth just swapping the sensor, or should I be digging deeper into the wiring first? You had the same error code too, right?

Sensor errors can be tricky. Given the symptoms, I'd inspect the wiring, but a faulty sensor is plausible. Honestly, I ended up taking mine to a workshop. Cost about 95€, but they sorted it quickly.

I appreciate the insight. I found a broken wire in the connector itself. Replaced the connector, cleared the code, and all seems well. 95€ saved!
