Peugeot 806 Gearbox Slipping

My 2000 Peugeot 806 diesel is acting up. 298713 km on the clock. The paddle shifters are useless, the gearbox is slipping like crazy and making horrible grinding sounds. Plus, it’s stuck in emergency mode and the error memory's full. Transmission control unit, right? Anyone else seen this?

Sounds rough! Slow paddle shifter response and slipping gears usually point to gearbox issues. Is there any error code being displayed? Could be a sensor issue or low transmission fluid, have you checked?

I haven’t checked the fluid, but the error code points directly to the transmission control unit. A defective car computer seems pretty clear, doesn't it? Just trying to gauge how screwed I am here…

Yeah, if the error code is clear about the control unit, it's likely the culprit. Sadly, those automatic gearboxes can be expensive when they go wrong. I'd still get a professional to confirm, but prepare for a trip to the workshop!

Thanks for the confirmation. Workshop confirmed it was indeed the control unit, and 1000€ later, it’s finally sorted. Appreciate the help!
