Peugeot 806 knocking combustion

My 2000 Peugeot 806, gasoline engine, is exhibiting symptoms of knocking combustion. I'm observing reduced engine power, jerking upon acceleration, and smoke emission during acceleration. There's also an error code. Could this be related to the knock sensor? It has 283039 km.

Sounds familiar. I had something similar with my 806. Does it happen more when the engine is cold?

The knocking is more pronounced during cold starts, but persists even after the engine is warm. Do you suspect a similar issue with deposits in the combustion chamber?

Yeah, that sounds like the same thing. I tried some fuel additives but they didn't help. Eventually I had to take it to a workshop.

Based on your experience, it seemed prudent to seek professional diagnostics. Following your advice I went to the workshop; the engine had to be cleaned and re-adjusted, repair cost was 425€. Thank you again.
