Peugeot Bipper charge air temperature sensor error
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Peugeot Bipper with a gasoline engine is experiencing reduced power, a check engine light, and unusual whistling and hissing sounds during acceleration. An OBD reader indicates a charge air temperature sensor error. While the sensor and its connections appear visually intact, the issue may stem from a faulty sensor or damaged wiring harness. The recommended solution is to have a professional mechanic inspect and potentially replace any corroded connectors or faulty components, which resolved the problem in this case.

Thanks for the quick reply! Good point on the wiring harness, I'll give that a closer look. When you say 'similar sensor issue' on your Astra, are you referring to the same charge air temperature sensor, or something else? And how much did it cost you to fix it? I'm just trying to get a sense of what I might be in for.

Yes, I was also having problems with the temperature gauge. In my case, the sensor itself was faulty, but the mechanic also found a slightly corroded connector. Honestly, instead of endless tinkering I brought my Astra to the shop. I would suggest you do the same. They'll diagnose it properly and replace the faulty parts. It will cost you around 100€ incl. VAT.

Thanks again! The workshop visit confirmed that the cable or plug connection of the sensor were defective. The mechanic replaced a corroded connector, and that seems to have solved all the problems. It cost me 95€ for the job, but it was worth it to have the Bipper running smoothly again. Really appreciate the advice!

Sounds familiar. I had almost the exact same symptoms – reduced power, whistling – with my old Opel Astra. Turned out to be a similar sensor issue. Did you check the wiring harness for any signs of damage or corrosion? Sometimes it's not the sensor itself, but a break in the wire that's causing the problem. Has your fuel consumption changed at all?
