Peugeot Boxer Fuel Consumption and Stalling

My 2004 Peugeot Boxer, gasoline engine, has increased fuel consumption, occasional stalling at idle, check engine light, and smoke during acceleration. I suspect a defective mass air flow meter (LMM). Anyone else dealt with similar symptoms? The van only has 52035 km. The air filter seems fine. Any advice?

Those symptoms align with a failing mass air flow (MAF) sensor. On my previous Vauxhall Astra, also with a gasoline engine, I experienced elevated fuel consumption, unstable idle, and sporadic check engine light illumination. The diagnostic trouble code pointed directly to the MAF sensor.

Thanks. Was the replacement straightforward, or did you encounter any complications? Did the Astra exhibit smoke under acceleration as well?

The replacement was straightforward, but the Astra didn't have smoke during acceleration. Given the age of your vehicle, a diagnostic check at a reputable workshop would be advisable to confirm the MAF sensor failure and rule out any secondary issues.

Appreciate the input. I took it to a workshop, and after a diagnostic, they confirmed the MAF sensor was defective. The total repair cost, including parts and labor, came to 365€. Runs much better now.
