Peugeot Boxer Won't Start
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Peugeot Boxer with a gasoline engine wouldn't start, suspected to be due to an engine control malfunction. The vehicle turned over but wouldn't catch, and loose battery cable connections were identified. After securing the battery cables, the issue was resolved, confirming that the loose connections were the cause of the starting problem.

Load test? What does this involve?

A load test checks the battery's ability to deliver current under load, simulating starting the engine. If it fails, even with good voltage, it indicates a weak battery. A proper garage should be able to perform this test for you. If that fails, it may be the engine control itself.

Thanks for the suggestion. As it happens it was the loose battery cables. A workshop visit to diagnose and fix it cost me 155€. All good now.

I had similar starting issues with my Boxer – although not sure of the year – it sounds like a bad connection. Have you load tested the battery? Even if it shows 12V, it might not have enough amps to start the engine.
