Peugeot Expert boost pressure fault
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Peugeot Expert with a diesel engine experienced a recurring issue of the check engine light illuminating, accompanied by reduced engine power, poor response, and increased fuel consumption. The problem was suspected to be related to a boost pressure control fault, possibly involving the intake manifold, boost controller, or a faulty pressure sensor. After consulting a mechanic, the issue was identified as a defective vacuum switching valve, which was repaired, resolving the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply! Can you provide any more details of the Astra issue? Was the vacuum switching valve difficult to diagnose, and did it present with similar symptoms? Did you get it solved in the end?

Yes, the Astra presented similar symptoms. Diagnosis required a mechanic with the right equipment and I recommend you visit a workshop. It turned out to be a defect in a vacuum switching valve.

Thank you for the suggestion! After a visit to my local mechanic, they confirmed that the issue was indeed a defective vacuum switching valve. The repair cost was around 140€. The Peugeot is running smoothly again!

I had a similar issue with my Opel Astra. The symptoms sound quite familiar. I was getting a check engine light and a loss of power, and it turned out to be a vacuum switching valve problem.
