Misfire codes, you say? Interesting. I've only focused on codes pointing towards VANOS malfunction. Where exactly should I be looking for these timing-related codes? Is there a specific scanner function or a particular code range I should be aware of?

Yeah, it's worth checking! While the codes might not directly scream 'timing chain,' they might indicate a general timing issue that throws off the VANOS. Honestly, at this point, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed. Could save you a lot of time and money in the long run.

You're spot on! I bit the bullet and took it to a local shop. Turns out, one of the camshaft solenoid valves was indeed faulty, just as suspected. 250€ later, the problem is solved. Thanks a bunch for the advice!

Hey! I had a similar issue with my Expert. Check engine light and higher fuel consumption are classic symptoms. Did you check for any engine misfire codes? It could also be related to the timing chain, which can cause similar VANOS-like problems in our Peugeots.
