Peugeot Expert O2 Sensor Issue

I'm hoping someone can help out with my 2016 Peugeot Expert gasoline. I've got a persistent check engine light, and the error memory keeps throwing codes related to the O2 sensor. I've noticed my fuel consumption has definitely gone up recently. I'm wondering if it's really the sensor itself or something else. I did a quick check and the mileage is currently at 219755 km. Could a faulty cable or plug connection actually cause these oxygen sensor issues and the increased fuel consumption?

The symptoms you describe, coupled with the stored error codes, strongly suggest an issue with the O2 sensor circuit. A defective cable or plug connection is indeed a plausible cause, potentially disrupting the sensor's signal. Have you inspected the connector and wiring for any signs of corrosion or damage?

Thanks for the quick reply! I had a quick look at the connector, but didn't see anything obvious like broken wires. Where exactly should I be looking for corrosion? Is there a specific part of the connector or wiring harness that's more prone to issues? I'm trying to avoid just randomly replacing parts.

While visual inspection is helpful, subtle corrosion within the connector pins themselves can be difficult to detect. Given the vehicle's age and mileage, and factoring in the diagnostic code pointing to the O2 sensor, it is advisable to have a workshop perform a comprehensive diagnosis, especially if increased fuel consumption is a concern. The air-fuel ratio impacts catalytic converter efficiency.

Okay, I understand. I appreciate the advice! I took it to a local shop, and you were spot on. Turns out, the O2 sensor connection was the culprit. They cleaned everything up and secured the connection. Total cost was 95€.
