Peugeot Expert Preheating Lamp Issue

Hi, I have a 2010 Peugeot Expert diesel with 95774 km on the clock. Recently, the preheating lamp won't switch off, and the check engine light's come on. Plus, there's some smoke when I accelerate. I ran a diagnostic test and it points to a defective glow control unit. I've checked the obvious stuff, and I suspect it could be a dodgy cable or plug connection. Anyone else had this issue?

Hey, I had something similar with my Expert (although it's not the same year). Same symptoms – preheating light staying on and the engine light popping up. Did you try checking the glow plugs themselves?

Yeah, I checked the glow plugs and they seem okay. The diagnostic is pretty clear that the control unit itself is throwing the error. Was yours definitely the same control unit issue, or was it something else that just presented the same?

Okay, so I'm not 100% sure if it was exactly the same 'control unit' thing, but the symptoms were spot on. I took it to a workshop, they plugged it in, and sorted it pretty quickly, and it wasn't too expensive. I'd suggest getting it checked out professionally rather than poking around too much yourself.

Thanks for the advice! I appreciate it. I'll take it to a local workshop and get them to check it out. Turns out it was indeed the glow control unit. The cable to the plug was defective, and the repair cost me 95€.
