Peugeot iOn Multifunction Steering Wheel Failure

My 2016 Peugeot iOn (electric) with 159491 km has a non-functional multifunction steering wheel. None of the buttons work, and diagnostics show an error. Fuses are fine. Could it be the steering column or control module?

I saw something similar on a 2014 Volvo V40. Your symptoms suggest a fault in the steering wheel controls or a break in the wiring harness connecting the steering wheel to the car's computer. Any other recent electrical issues? That might give context.

Thanks! No other electrical issues. Is that wiring harness usually hard to access or repair? Could it be a loose connection, or more likely a damaged cable?

Accessing the wiring harness inside the steering column can be tricky, often needing steering wheel and trim removal. Since there are no other electrical problems, the issue might be in the steering wheel. A damaged or chafed wire is likely, but it might need more than a simple repair. I'd suggest a qualified technician for diagnosis and repair.

Thanks so much! I took it to a workshop as you suggested. It was a defective cable connection in the steering wheel, just as we suspected. Repair cost me 95€, which I think is pretty reasonable. Appreciate the help!
