Pixo Hissing and Fuel Economy
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Nissan Pixo owner reported poor fuel economy, a check engine light, and a loud hissing sound when accelerating, suspecting an air intake leak, possibly from a hose. Another participant shared a similar experience with a different car, suggesting checking the air filter and hoses around the throttle body for cracks. The issue was confirmed to be a cracked intake hose, which was subsequently repaired.

Thanks for the tip! Which hose was it on your Clio? And how hard was it to spot?

It was a small crack on the intake hose, near the intake manifold. Honestly, it was a pain to find! I'd recommend getting someone to rev the engine while you have a good listen and feel around for escaping air. But if you're not sure, best to get a workshop to take a look. They'll find it quicker!

Thanks! Will check the hose, but if I can't find the leak I'll bring it in. Appreciate the help! It turned out to be the intake hose, as suspected. Cost me 100€ to get it fixed.

That sounds familiar. I had almost the exact same symptoms with my old Renault Clio – hissing, bad fuel economy, the works! Have you checked the air filter and the hoses around the throttle body? Could be a split hose somewhere.
