Porter check engine light and power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Hyundai Porter diesel exhibited a check engine light, reduced power, and increased fuel consumption at 69,328 km. The suspected cause was a faulty exhaust temperature sensor, potentially due to an exhaust leak. After a workshop diagnostic, it was confirmed that the exhaust temperature sensor was indeed faulty, and there was a minor exhaust leak, both of which were repaired.

Thanks. I've noticed some minor exhaust tone fluctuations, especially during temperature changes. Can you give me more specifics on your symptoms and the diagnosis?

Yeah, the sound wasn't super obvious at first, but it was definitely 'off' – a bit raspy sometimes. Honestly, after fiddling around and getting nowhere, I just took it to a workshop. They hooked it up and nailed it pretty quick. Seriously, save yourself the headache and get it checked properly. Could be lots of things causing those symptoms.

Thanks for the advice. I had a workshop do a diagnostic. Turns out the exhaust temperature sensor was faulty, and there was a minor exhaust leak. The sensor replacement and leak repair cost 265€.

I had something similar with my Porter, though I didn't check the mileage. Check engine light, felt like I was towing a boat, and I was suddenly filling up every other day! It was a nightmare, man. Anything weird with how it sounds?
