Porter lean running
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Hyundai Porter diesel is experiencing lean running, characterized by reduced power, a check engine light, rough engine performance, and jerking during acceleration. The initial suspicion is a defective injection valve or injector. Suggestions include checking the throttle body and oxygen sensor, as a dirty throttle body or faulty O2 sensor can cause similar issues. Ultimately, a defective injector was identified and replaced, resolving the problem.

Thanks! I hadn't considered the throttle body. Where is it located and how hard is it to check? Also, could a faulty EGR valve or a leak in the intake manifold cause a lean condition?

On my Peugeot, the throttle body was right after the air filter, connected to the intake manifold. Not sure about your Hyundai, look it up online. I got fed up and took it to a workshop. They diagnosed a bad injector. Get a professional opinion!

Appreciate the advice. Heading for the workshop. Had the injectors checked and one was defective. Cost me 515€ to sort it.

I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot 307. Check engine light, struggling engine. Have you checked the throttle body or the oxygen sensor? A dirty throttle body can cause lean running, and a faulty O2 sensor can give incorrect readings to the ECU. Worth a look before injectors.
