Presage oxygen sensor issue

My 2001 Nissan Presage with a diesel engine is acting up. The check engine light is on, there's a stored error, and fuel consumption is up. I suspect the O2 sensor; the wiring and plug look corroded. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Summary of the thread

A 2001 Nissan Presage with a diesel engine is experiencing increased fuel consumption and a persistent check engine light, suspected to be caused by a faulty oxygen sensor with corroded wiring and plug. The issue was confirmed by a workshop, identifying both the old oxygen sensor and a bad plug connection as the culprits. Replacing the sensor resolved the problem.

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my Presage. Check your air-fuel ratio; it might give you a clue if it's the O2 sensor or something else messing with the exhaust system.

Thanks for the tip! When you had that issue, did the check engine light stay on constantly, or was it intermittent? I'm trying to avoid replacing the sensor if something else is causing it.

Mine was pretty consistent, stayed on. But honestly, with those symptoms and the car's age, get it checked at a workshop. Could be the catalytic converter too. Best not to risk it.

Took it to a shop. It was the old oxygen sensor and a bad plug connection, as I thought. 95€ and a new sensor later, it seems fixed! Thanks for the advice!
