President Tailgate Hall Sensor Fault

My 2004 Nissan President, gasoline engine, with 49195 km is having tailgate issues. The error memory shows a hall sensor fault, and the tailgate won't open fully automatically. I suspect a bad cable or plug. Has anyone dealt with this before? The tailgate motor setup looks difficult to access!

I had a similar issue with my President's tailgate. The hall sensor can be a real headache. Did you check the sensor wiring itself? Sometimes a loose connection can cause those symptoms.

Thanks for the tip! When you say 'sensor wiring', are you referring to the harness near the motor, or deeper within the tailgate mechanism? Any specific areas where you noticed chafing or corrosion? I'm trying to avoid taking apart the whole tailgate.

Yeah, I meant the harness near the motor. It's a bit cramped in there, and the wires can get stressed. I ended up taking mine to a workshop. They sorted it out quickly. They recalibrated the sensor after fixing the wiring issue.

Appreciate the advice! Workshop visit it is. I've already booked it in. They think it's likely a faulty connection and quoted around 95€ to fix it. Fingers crossed it's that simple!
