Previa automatic transmission shifting issue

Hey, I've got a 2010 Toyota Previa, gasoline engine, with only 48700 km. The automatic transmission is acting weird, and the transmission light is on. It feels like it's not shifting right, and sometimes it's stuck. Could this be old transmission oil? Anyone else seen this?

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had a similar freakout with my old Saab 9-3 a few years back. The shifting went all wonky, kinda like trying to ice skate uphill, and the lights on the dash lit up like a Christmas tree! Is it jerky, like a kangaroo on a trampoline, or more like a delayed reaction when you put your foot down?

The kangaroo analogy is spot on! It's exactly that jerky, unpredictable feeling. Do you remember what caused the problem with your Saab and how you fixed it?

Okay, so mine turned out to be low voltage messing with the transmission control unit. Think of it like trying to run your computer on a nearly dead battery - things get glitchy! My mechanic checked the battery and alternator, found a voltage drop, and after fixing that, the transmission behaved itself. Honestly, I'd get it checked out ASAP at a workshop, it's beyond my capabilities.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and they found undervoltage was the problem, affecting the transmission. A transmission oil change and some electrical adjustments later, the Previa shifts smoothly. It cost 240€.
