Primastar Check Engine Light and Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Nissan Primastar owner experienced a check engine light, reduced engine power, poor response, a whistling noise, hissing during acceleration, engine stalling, and increased fuel consumption. These issues were suspected to be related to the boost pressure actuator. Another individual suggested checking the electrical bypass valve, pressure sensor, and turbo wastegate, indicating a potential boost pressure problem linked to the turbocharger. The problem was confirmed to be a defective electrical bypass valve, which was replaced, resolving the issues.

Thanks for the quick reply. How did you confirm it was the electrical bypass valve? Did you also experience engine stalls? I'd like to know more before taking it to a workshop.

My mechanic ran some diagnostics and pinpointed it. Yes, I also had the stalling issue. Honestly, with those symptoms, it's best to get it checked professionally. Could save you money in the long run. If it's the same as mine it will likely cost around 250€

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. Took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be a defective electrical bypass valve, just like you said. Replaced it, and everything's back to normal. Thanks again!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Primastar. Check for a defective electrical bypass valve, also have the pressure sensor and turbo wastegate looked at. Could be a boost pressure problem linked to the turbocharger. I hope it helps!
