Primastar Mixture Preparation Error
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Nissan Primastar experienced a mixture preparation error, resulting in reduced engine power, a check engine light, rough running, jerking during acceleration, and stalling at idle. Initial checks of the throttle body and MAF sensor showed no issues. A suggestion was made to consider a faulty injector as a potential cause. After a diagnostic test, a defective injector was confirmed and replaced, resolving the problem and restoring smooth engine operation.

Thanks for the quick reply! That's interesting. I hadn't thought about the injectors. Can you tell me more about how you figured out it was the injector in your case? Were there any specific codes or tests that pointed you that way?

Sure. The check engine light was on, and the error codes pointed to a rich mixture. After checking the MAF sensor and O2 sensors, I did an injector balance test which showed one injector was underperforming. I'd recommend a proper diagnostic before replacing anything, but the symptoms line up. Given the cost, it’s best to have a specialist check it. You need to go to the workshop for that.

Your advice was super helpful. The workshop confirmed it was a defective injector. The repair cost 515€, including parts and labor. Replacing the injector fixed everything. The engine runs smoothly now, and the check engine light is off. Thanks again!

I had a similar issue with my Primastar. The symptoms were comparable. Have you thought about a faulty injector? A defective injection valve can cause a mixture preparation error, leading to those symptoms.
