Prisma rough running and smoke
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Chevrolet Prisma is experiencing rough running, poor fuel economy, stalling at idle, a check engine light, and smoke during acceleration. These issues suggest a potential problem with the mass air flow sensor. It is recommended to have the sensor checked by a professional mechanic, as it can be difficult to diagnose without proper tools.

Thanks, yes, the engine's definitely not performing as well. Acceleration feels weak, and it just doesn't respond like it used to. What did you find out was causing your similar issues?

The drop in performance makes a faulty mass air flow sensor even more likely. That's what my problem turned out to be. With all the symptoms you're describing, I'd suggest getting the sensor checked by a good shop. It can be tricky to diagnose without the right tools.

Thanks for the advice. I'll make an appointment with my mechanic to get the mass air flow sensor looked at.

I have a Prisma too, though a different year. Your symptoms sound a lot like what I went through. Have you noticed any drop in engine performance or how it responds?
