Prius engine power loss

Hey, I've got a perplexing issue with my 2005 Toyota Prius (hybrid engine). It’s got 62663 km on it. I've been experiencing a noticeable reduction in engine power, and the check engine light is on. After some diagnostics, it seems like the throttle valve might be defective, possibly related to the accelerator pedal module or some faulty electronics. Anyone encountered something similar? Any thoughts on the likelihood of this diagnosis, or potential pitfalls?

I had almost the same thing happen in my Prius! Check engine light and everything. Was there any response delay when you hit the gas? It could be a throttle sensor issue messing with the air flow. I hope you can get it fixed!

Thanks for the quick response! Response delay is there sometimes, especially at lower speeds. Do you remember if that throttle sensor issue was difficult to diagnose, and did it throw any specific error codes?

Yes, definitely sounds like the same problem. If the delay is getting worse, don't wait, just take it to a workshop. It could cause a bigger problem if you ignore it. It could also be unsafe to drive.

Took your advice and brought it in. Turns out the accelerator pedal module was indeed defective, just as initially suspected. Replacement cost me around 265€. Runs like a dream now. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
