Prius injection system fault

Hi, I have a 2015 Toyota Prius hybrid with 159554 km. Recently, I've noticed higher fuel consumption, reduced engine power, and the engine sometimes stalls at idle. Plus, there's some smoke when accelerating. I suspect it might be related to the injection system. Any ideas?

Hello! I drive a Toyota Prius too. I had very similar symptoms not too long ago: reduced power, stalling, all of it. After investigating a bit, I found out that it was caused by a defective cable or plug connection within the injection system. Specifically, I read somewhere that the system relies on precise electrical signals to control the fuel injectors. Any interruption of these signals can throw off the fuel-air mixture, resulting in the problems you are experiencing. Have you checked the electrical connections to the fuel injectors?

Thanks for the info. I haven't checked the connections yet. Could you tell me where exactly I should be looking for these cable connections?

Certainly. The fuel injectors are located on the engine, directly connected to the intake manifold. The cable connections are usually pretty obvious, small plugs going into each injector. But given your description and my experience, and taking into consideration my relatively limited expertise, I suggest getting it checked by a professional. They can use diagnostic tools to pinpoint the exact issue. Could save you time and potential further problems.

Appreciate the advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. It was indeed a faulty plug connection. They replaced it, and everything seems to be running smoothly now. Total repair cost was 95€.
