Prius Transport Mode Electrical Malfunction

I've got a 2017 Toyota Prius hybrid that's throwing me for a loop. It's got about 81k km on it. The main issue is that it seems to be stuck in some kind of "transport mode." I'm getting a general electrical malfunction warning and the navigation system is completely dead. I've checked the battery and fuses, but everything seems fine. Since I just bought the car, I suspect that it might be a car configuration issue. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2017 Toyota Prius hybrid is experiencing an electrical malfunction, seemingly stuck in "transport mode," with a non-functional navigation system. The issue is suspected to be a car configuration problem, as the battery and fuses appear fine. A similar past issue with another vehicle was resolved by addressing the immobilizer, suggesting a potential cause. The recommended solution is to return the car to the seller for proper configuration, which successfully resolved the problem.

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane, though it was a petrol version. The symptoms were almost identical - electrical gremlins and a non-functional nav system. Is the engine starting at all? In my case, the immobilizer was playing up big time. Did you check the immobilizer?

Interesting! Thanks for the insight. No, the engine won't start. How did you figure out it was the immobilizer? And what did you do to fix it?

Well, I had some experience with car electronics back then and ran a full diagnostic check, which pointed to the immobilizer. I couldn't fix it myself and needed to go to the workshop to get it recoded and the car reconfigured. Since your car is new, I recommend you to bring the car back to the seller, I am quite sure that they will take care of it.

Thanks a lot for the help! Turns out, that was exactly the problem. The dealer took it in and reset everything. Apparently, it wasn't properly configured before I picked it up. All good now!
