Problems with 2013 Toyota Camry petrol engine: black smoke, loss of power and high fuel consumption

Hi everyone, I'm having problems with my 2013 Toyota Camry petrol engine and wanted to ask about your experiences. It smokes black when accelerating, the check engine light is on, the cold start time is longer, I notice a loss of power, it jerks when accelerating, has higher fuel consumption and the exhaust smells pretty bad. I suspect it could be a malfunction of the fuel pressure sensor. Have any of you had similar problems and had them fixed at the garage? What tips and advice can you give me? Any help would be great! Thanks in advance!

Hi, I once had a similar case with my 2011 Toyota Corolla. I have some experience with cars, but I'm not a professional. My Corolla had almost exactly the same problems. At my garage they said that the cable connections were faulty. I spent 155.0 euros on the repair and after that the car ran like clockwork again. It would be helpful if I knew a bit more about your car, such as the exact model name and mileage, to be able to give you more details. Hope that helps for a start!

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! Mine now has 159026 km on it. No major repairs so far, just the normal service and maintenance. So it's almost like new, right? Your assumption about the cable connections could be correct, I'll have that checked. Thanks for the tip!

Hey, you're welcome! Your car has been around quite a while, but that's not usually a deterrent as long as it's well maintained. The Toyota Camry is generally known for its durability and reliability. Of course, it's just a guess with the cable connections, but it could be a possible source of error that's worth checking. If the problem persists after that, it could be due to other, more complex components, such as the fuel pressure gauge or the injection system. It may help to have the error code read out first. That way you can narrow down your search. Hope that helps you. Feel free to get in touch if you have any further questions!
