Problems with black smoke and loss of power in BMW diesel 7 series (2013): Looking for advice on how to fix the particulate filter defect

Hello friends, I have recently had a problem with my BMW 7 Series (diesel, built in 2013). It smokes black when accelerating, the engine light is on, the performance has dropped and the DPF regeneration just won't work. There is also an intense exhaust smell. I suspect that the efficiency of my particulate filter is too low. Have any of you ever experienced something like this and can tell me what was done in the workshop to fix the problem? I would appreciate any tips. Thank you very much!

Hi My cx7 2.2 diesel 173hp, built in 2010, is showing a particulate filter fault. Also, although ad blue is full, it calculates down from 830 km. The speed is reduced. Carly shows in the display that no regeneration has taken place since 1760 km. However, the filter cannot be full, as I have just done the AU and Tüf. Also no black smoke or increased diesel consumption. We suspect that because we have changed the oil ourselves and the control units have not been reset, it is because these errors are being displayed. How can I reset the maintenance intervals? Thank you very much Uwe

Particle filter Continued driving possible. Engine performance may be reduced. Have it checked by your BMW Service.

It sounds like your vehicle is in limp mode due to the particulate filter issue. This is a safety feature to prevent further damage to the engine. You should definitely have this checked by a professional mechanic as soon as possible. If you have a diagnostic tool, you can try to reset the maintenance intervals by following the instructions in the tool's manual. However, this might not solve the underlying issue with the particulate filter. Please keep us updated on your progress. Do you have any other questions?

Could you please provide more details about the error code? Knowing the specific code will help in diagnosing the issue. Also, it would be helpful to know the make, model, and year of your vehicle, as well as any symptoms you've noticed.

The error code 004D4A in a BMW typically refers to a problem with the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) system. It could be due to a clogged DPF, a faulty DPF sensor, or a problem with the DPF regeneration process. I would recommend starting with a DPF regeneration, if possible. If the problem persists, you may need to have the DPF cleaned or replaced. Please keep us updated on your progress. Do you have any other questions?
