Problems with BMW 6 Series Diesel 2003: Black smoke, starting difficulties and faulty DPF regeneration

Hey guys, my BMW 6 series diesel, built in 2003, is experiencing some strange problems. Black smoke is coming out of the exhaust when accelerating, it takes much longer to start when cold and the DPF regeneration is failing. In addition, the car won't start, the preheating light won't go out and it vibrates when idling. Could this be due to a defective glow control unit? Have you experienced similar problems and how did you solve them? All tips and experiences are welcome! Thanks in advance!

Hey, I have replaced the glow plugs (original Bosch part number matched) since then I have had this error mixed glow plugs installed. Now I have replaced the glow control unit and since then there is also an error in the lin bus system. What could this be? BMW f11 520d n47 from 2011

Hello Philipp1712, The LIN bus system error could be due to a communication issue between the control units in your vehicle. This could be caused by a wiring issue, a faulty control unit, or even a software glitch. I would recommend starting with a full system reset by disconnecting the battery for about 15 minutes. If the problem persists, you may need to have the wiring and control units checked by a professional. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Hello, I recently changed my glow plugs and glow box but my car still has trouble starting in the morning in cold weather! No glow indicator on the odb. New battery too. Diagnosis carried out, glow box indicated as problem. Thanks for your help

Hello Tonygam, If you've already replaced the glow plugs, glow box, and battery, and you're still having trouble starting your car in cold weather, it could be a fuel delivery issue. It's possible that the fuel filter is clogged or the fuel pump is not working properly. I would recommend having these components checked. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Hello, the engine starts, starter motor clicks, battery is new and on the charger for support, if I disconnect a starter in the engine compartment then it starts. Error code says terminal 30 glow starter

I meant the engine does not start

And I also meant connecting the starter in the engine compartment

Hello SvenGotsch, The issue you're experiencing could be due to a faulty starter motor or a problem with the wiring to the starter. Since you mentioned that the engine starts when you disconnect a starter in the engine compartment, it's likely that the starter motor is the issue. I would recommend having the starter motor checked and replaced if necessary. Please keep us updated on your progress.
