Problems with DPF regeneration, Ad-Blue system and warning lights in BMW 5 Series Diesel (2016)
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A BMW 5 Series Diesel from 2016 is experiencing issues with warning lights, a non-functioning DPF regeneration, and suspected low pressure in the Ad-Blue system. A similar problem in another BMW model was resolved by repairing a defective wiring harness in the Ad-Blue tank. The suggested solution is to visit a garage for professional diagnosis and repair, as this could potentially resolve the issue and restore the car's performance.

Aaaah, got it. Thanks for your answer! So it's a 5 series BMW diesel from 2016. The car shows no other symptoms, the engine starts and runs smoothly. The only thing that annoys me is the light. There were no problems at the last service 188023 kilometers ago. I'll follow your advice and pay a visit to the garage. Hopefully it really is just the wiring harness you mentioned. Thanks again for your help!

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for! It sounds like it could really just be the wiring harness if there are no other symptoms. In my case, the DPF regeneration was also blocked and the problem was actually the wiring harness. The repair is a bit more expensive, but if that's the solution to the problem, then it's definitely worth it. Your 2016 BMW 5 Series diesel should then run like new again. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Get in touch if you have any further questions or want to keep us up to date. Good luck!

Thank you very much, that sounds reassuring! I really hope that's all it is. I'm taking the car to the garage next week and hope they can solve it quickly. I was hoping that someone would have an insider tip on how to solve the problem myself. But I'd rather let the professionals do it. I'll let you know when I know more and how it went. Thanks again for your help and advice!

Stupid question, but has the AD-Blue system ever been topped up? Because if it is empty, the error code can of course also occur.

Hi, I'm not a car professional, but I do have a bit of experience. I had a similar problem with my BMW 3 Series diesel (built in 2014). The error message was exactly the same and I also had problems with the Ad-Blue function. Went to the garage and they found that the wiring harness of the Ad-Blue tank was defective. The repair cost me 250 euros. Since then, my car has been running smoothly again... My tip: take your car to the garage. They can help you best. But in order for me to give you more precise tips, a little more information about your car would be helpful. Exactly which model do you have? What other symptoms does the car show apart from the lights on the dashboard? I hope I have been able to help you a little. Good luck with solving the problem!
