It sort of happened overnight after the car had its recent service at a mileage of 75170 km. I was just a bit surprised because I've never had any problems with the windshield wipers before. Maybe I should visit them again and have them check whether it really is the relay. 375 euros for the repair is not exactly cheap, but if that solves the problem, I would have no problem paying it.
