Problems with shock absorber and warning light in Peugeot 301 model year 2014
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Peugeot 301 is experiencing excessive bouncing on bumps and an intermittent warning light on the speedometer. The issue may be related to a faulty damper adjustment or a defective control unit, as similar problems have been resolved by replacing the control unit in other Peugeot models. It is advised to visit a garage to have the fault read out and inform the mechanics about the recent damping adjustment to identify and resolve the issue promptly.

Hi, thanks for your answer. The light goes on and off from time to time, so it is not permanent. At high speeds, the car behaves quite normally with only minor vibrations. However, it is a bit strange that the damping was only recently checked and adjusted at 173698 KM. I will probably have to visit a garage again. Maybe the control unit is also the problem in my case.

Hey, thanks for your feedback. It's interesting to hear that the warning light is not permanently on and the handling normalizes at high speeds. This could mean that the problem is more to do with the suspension control, as this is a common symptom of problems in this area. You've said that the damping has only recently been adjusted - it could well be that something has gone wrong. In my Peugeot it was the control unit, but every car is different. I would still recommend that you visit a garage and have the fault read out. Also tell the mechanics that the damping was recently adjusted - maybe that's where the problem lies. And another tip from me: don't wait too long. The warning light is a sign that something is wrong and the sooner you get it fixed, the better. I hope this information helps you and you get the problem under control soon. Good luck!

Hi, I really appreciate your advice! At first I wasn't sure if it was serious because the warning light kept going off. But you're right, I shouldn't ignore it. I will follow your advice and have the fault read out at a garage. I'll keep you posted and let you know what the mechanics find. Thanks again for your help!

Hello, I'm not a professional, but I do have some experience with the wrench. I had a similar problem with my 2012 Peugeot 308. After the warning light came on, I went straight to the garage. It turned out that the fault was in the control unit. Apparently the control unit was defective and had to be replaced. The repair cost me a total of around 1000 euros, but since then the car has been running smoothly again. Can you tell me whether the warning light is permanently on or only sporadically? And how does the car behave at high speeds? This information could help to identify the problem more precisely.
