Problems with the gearshift and unusual noises in the Opel Zafira 2007 - experiences and possible solutions wanted
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
An Opel Zafira 2007 owner is experiencing erratic gear shifting, grinding noises, and whining sounds, suspecting transmission oil pressure issues. A similar issue in an Opel Astra was resolved by replacing a faulty transmission control unit, though it was costly. It is suggested to conduct a diagnostic check to accurately identify the problem before proceeding with expensive repairs. If the transmission control unit is indeed the issue, repairing it could restore the car's performance.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! My Zafira already has 150894 kilometers on it and there were no problems at the last service. I've never done a diagnostic check. Maybe I should do that before I deal with the transmission control unit. 1000 Euros sounds really hefty, but if it helps, then maybe it's worth it. Thanks again!

No problem, you're welcome! Given the mileage, it's actually not unusual for something to go wrong with the transmission. But don't worry, it doesn't necessarily have to be the transmission control unit. In my Astra, the symptoms were very similar at first and yet it was 'only' the transmission control unit and nothing more serious. A diagnostic check can definitely help to find the exact fault before you spend a lot of money on repairs. The costs for this are usually manageable compared to the potential repair costs. I would recommend that you try it! And if it really is the transmission control unit, then it's quite a lot of money, but look at it this way - after that, your car will most likely drive like new again! If you are otherwise happy with your Zafira and have no other faults, I would consider the repair. Hope that helps you a bit. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Hey, you're right, it's good to do a diagnostic check first before I start with an expensive repair. And if it really is the transmission control unit, then I'll probably have to bite the bullet and fork out the money. Apart from that, I'm really happy with my Zafira, there haven't been any major problems so far. Thank you very much for your advice, it has helped me a lot. I'll be in touch if I have any further questions!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my Opel Astra (built in 2005, gasoline engine). I'm not really a car specialist, but I do know a bit about it. I quickly went to my trusted garage. They told me that the transmission control unit was faulty. Unfortunately it wasn't cheap, I had to pay 1000.0 euros for it. But it worked fine again afterwards, so it was worth it to me. To help you more accurately, could you say a bit more about your vehicle? In particular, what mileage it has and whether there have been any previous problems? And, have you ever had a diagnostic check done? That could also provide some information. Hope that helps you a bit.
