Problems with the immobilizer on the Seat Arona (2018): Car does not start properly

Hey, I have a problem with my Seat Arona (built in 2018, petrol engine) and I'm hoping for your help. The car is acting up and won't start, sometimes it starts briefly and then goes off again immediately. I suspect the immobilizer is acting up. Have any of you ever had a problem like this and can give me some troubleshooting tips? I am particularly interested in how the garage solved the problem for you and what experiences you have had. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I also drive a Seat, but a Leon model from 2016. I'm not a car mechanic, but I have some knowledge from years of tinkering. I once had a similar problem. The immobilizer control unit/antenna in my car was defective/damaged. I had it repaired at the garage and was satisfied with the service. It cost me 365 euros. Can you give a few more details about your Arona, such as mileage, recent repairs, etc.? Maybe then I can help you more specifically. Good luck!

Hi, thanks for the tip about the control unit, that sounds plausible. The last time I took my Arona to the garage was at 21809 km and then I haven't had any more problems until now. No repairs or anything like that since then. I'll talk to the garage about the control unit/antenna and see what they think. Thanks again and best regards!

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! With your mileage, a faulty control unit or damaged antenna shouldn't really happen that often, but you never know. With my Leon model, the problems with the immobilizer didn't occur until much later. In any case, I would recommend you take a look at the battery. Sometimes it's the simplest things like an almost flat battery that stop the car starting properly, and that makes it seem like the immobilizer is acting up. Maybe you could go to the garage and ask them to check both the ECU and the battery voltage. Good luck and let us know what the problem was in the end! Best regards!

Hi, that's right, I hadn't thought about the battery - thanks for the tip! I'll definitely look into it and have both the control unit and the battery voltage checked at the garage. Once I've solved the problem, I'll let you know. Great that you took the time to help me. I'm really grateful for your quick and helpful answers. All the best and see you next time!

Hey Sounds a lot like the immobilizer. Have you dropped your key recently? Greetings
