Problems with the key fob and presumably defective antenna on the Opel Astra - experiences and solutions wanted

Hello everyone, I have some unusual problems with my Opel Astra (year of manufacture 2020, gasoline engine). In particular, there is trouble with the key fob. I suspect that the antenna in the bumper might be defective. Have any of you ever had a situation like this and how was it solved in the workshop? I would be grateful for any tips or experience reports!

Hi, I have had a similar problem with my Opel Insignia, 2018 model. Not exactly a car genius but I know my way around. In my case, the Comfort Access control unit was defective and was repaired in my workshop for 600.0 euros. I recommend checking this. Can you tell me the exact configuration of your Astra to help you better?

Thanks for the quick reply and the tip. So my Opel Astra has a 1.2 L turbo engine, manual five-speed gearbox, is a five-door and has about 153390 kilometers on it. The last service was about 10,000 kilometers ago. Hope this helps!

No problem, you're welcome! The control unit could also be the problem with your Astra, as it is with my Insignia. It could also be that the battery in the key fob is flat and needs to be replaced, which is a cheap and quick solution. Otherwise, take your Astra to the garage and ask for the antenna in the bumper and the control unit to be checked. Don't get ripped off, as the prices for these repairs can vary greatly. I hope this helps you!

Cool, that sounds sensible! I'm going to change the battery in the key fob first and see if that fixes the problem. If not, I'll take your suggestions and take the car to the garage. Thanks for your tips and your time, that was really helpful!
