Pulsar engine fails to start

My 2017 Nissan Pulsar diesel won't start at 85154 km. Diagnostics suggest engine control malfunction, but I suspect poor battery cable connections. Anyone experienced similar issues?

An engine control malfunction on a Pulsar is concerning with those kilometers. When you say 'cable connections,' have you checked for corrosion or looseness? Did you measure the voltage drop across the cables while attempting to start? If the voltage drops significantly, it could indicate a bad connection, but it could also be a sign of a failing battery under load. Is the starter motor even attempting to engage?

Regarding the voltage drop, could you clarify what would constitute a significant drop under load that warrants further investigation? I would like to gather precise measurements before proceeding.

When cranking, if the voltage drops below 10 volts, that's usually considered a significant drop and points to either a weak battery, poor connections, or a faulty starter drawing too much current. However, since it doesn't start at all, and considering it could be an engine control issue, I'd honestly recommend a workshop visit for a proper diagnostic check. They have the tools to pinpoint the problem accurately.

I followed your recommendation and had the vehicle inspected at a workshop. I was right, the engine control malfunction was caused by bad cable connections of the battery. Repair costs amounted to 155€.
