Puma engine stalling power loss

Hey, I'm having trouble with my 2000 Ford Puma, gasoline engine. The check engine light keeps popping on, and the engine occasionally stalls when idling. Plus, I've noticed a reduction in power, especially when accelerating. I recently changed the fuel filter, and I'm wondering if I messed something up. I suspect it might be the fuel pressure regulator, maybe a pressure drop issue? Could this be throwing the error code and causing all these problems? Any ideas?

I had similar issues with my Ford Focus. Check engine light and all. Did you check the fuel lines after changing the filter? Maybe there's a leak somewhere?

Thanks for the quick reply! I did check the fuel lines, but I'll double-check them again. Could a faulty fuel pressure regulator actually cause these symptoms, like the stalling and power loss, in addition to the check engine light?

Yeah, a bad fuel regulator can definitely cause all those problems. I eventually took mine to a workshop. They replaced the regulator, and it fixed everything.

Thanks a bunch for the advice! Turns out it WAS the fuel pressure regulator! I got it replaced for 45€, and now the car runs like a dream. Seems like changing that fuel filter must have been the straw that broke the camel's back. Appreciate the help!
