Puma Gear Shift Issues

Anyone else experienced gear shift indicator issues on their 2022 Ford Puma (gasoline)? Got about 53k km on the clock. Lately, the gear selection display is totally blank, and it's like the car doesn't know what gear it's in. Nearly impossible to engage any gear. The transmission is slipping badly with grinding noises, and is throwing errors. Could it be a faulty control unit?

I have a Puma too and that sounds painfully familiar. Was the gearbox acting weird – implausible shifts, that sort of thing – before the display went completely out? I'm wondering if it's the same sensor problem I had. When the display went blank, were any error codes stored?

Yeah, the shifting was definitely off for a while - unclean even. Slipping feeling is the right way to describe it. Now the display is gone, and it won't engage. Grinding noises. Errors, yes. Did replacing the sensor fix everything for you, then?

Replacing the sensor did nothing for me, unfortunately. My Puma exhibited similar symptoms: unclean shifting, slipping, grinding noises. The sensor was just a symptom. The root cause was the control unit being defective. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to confirm, but based on what you are experiencing, I'd hazard a guess that you are facing the same issues.
