Punto Brake Light Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Fiat Punto owner experienced a brake light failure and an error message on the infotainment system. Initial checks of the tail lights and fuses showed no issues. A suggestion was made to inspect the brake pedal switch, a common cause of such problems. Upon investigation, the issue was resolved by readjusting the brake pedal switch, which had been accidentally knocked, restoring the brake lights and clearing the error message without any cost.

The brake pedal switch, eh? Is that something I can easily get to myself, or are we talking contortionist levels of access required? Is it even worth the hassle of tinkering, or should I just take it to a workshop?

On my Megane, it was right above the brake pedal, easy enough to reach, but fiddly to actually unclip. Before tinkering I would advise you to visit the workshop to check the error code again. They will know more after that.

Well, I feel a bit silly. Turns out I knocked the switch when I was hoovering out the footwell. A simple readjustment, and everything's working fine. Brake lights are back, error message gone, and the error memory is cleared. Zero cost. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Sounds familiar. I had similar brake light issues on my old Renault Megane. Error stored, brake light went out, dashboard lit up. Did you check the brake pedal switch? It's a cheap part, but can cause all sorts of weird electrical problems.
