Punto emergency call system error
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Fiat Punto is experiencing an error with the emergency call system, indicated by a warning light and stored error message. The suspected cause is a defective cable or plug connection. A similar issue was resolved by checking the diagnostic codes, which pointed to a faulty connection in the control module. The recommended solution is to have a workshop perform a diagnostic check to identify and fix the connection issue.

Thanks for the hint. What exactly do you mean by 'control module'? And, how did you find out it was a faulty connection?

The control module, or ECU, is the car's computer basically. It manages a lot of functions. In my case, the diagnostic tool pointed to a specific error code related to the emergency call system. The mechanic then checked the physical connections to that module and found a loose plug. I suggest going to a workshop to get the error memory read.

Thanks, I'll take it to the workshop for a diagnostic check. The invoice says 'Cable or plug connection of the component defective' and lists 95€ for repair. Seems like you were spot on!

I had something similar with my Punto. It was indeed a faulty connection in the control module. Have you checked the diagnostic codes? That might give you a clearer picture of where the issue lies. It could be a simple fix or require a replacement part.
