Qashqai Alarm System Fault
Summary of the thread
The alarm system on a 2009 Nissan Qashqai diesel is malfunctioning, with an error indicating a siren communication fault. The issue is suspected to be caused by a bad cable or plug. A similar problem in another vehicle was resolved by addressing corroded or damaged wiring, suggesting that inspecting the wiring around the siren and alarm controller for damage or corrosion might be a potential solution. If the problem persists, visiting a workshop is recommended for a thorough inspection and repair.

Thanks for the quick reply. Which specific wires did you check on your Volvo? Any particular signs besides corrosion that indicated the problem?

On the Volvo, it was the ground wire for the alarm siren. Besides corrosion, the insulation was cracked and brittle. Honestly, after checking the obvious connections, I gave up and took it to a workshop. Considering potential security issues, it's probably the safest route.

Understood, I appreciate the advice. I'll inspect the wiring as best I can, but a workshop visit seems best. Repair cost will be around 95€. Thanks again!

I had a similar problem with my old Volvo V70. The alarm would randomly go off. Turned out to be a corroded wire in the door harness shorting out. Have you checked the wiring around the siren and alarm controller for damage or corrosion?
