Qashqai Fog Sensor Fault

I'm at my wit's end with my 2022 Nissan Qashqai Hybrid. I've got 101056 km on the clock, and this fog sensor issue is driving me nuts. The error memory keeps throwing up a fault, the air conditioning refuses to kick in, the windscreen washer nozzles are perpetually frozen, and the mirror heating is completely dead. Could these problems be related? I'm thinking it's all linked somehow, especially since I've read the likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Nissan Qashqai Hybrid owner is experiencing multiple issues, including a persistent fog sensor fault, non-functional air conditioning, frozen windscreen washer nozzles, and dead mirror heating. These problems are suspected to be interconnected, likely due to a defective cable or plug connection. After consulting with others and considering similar experiences, the owner decides to take the vehicle to a workshop, where a faulty connector to the fog sensor is confirmed as the cause.

That sounds incredibly frustrating! I have a Qashqai too, although I don't know if the newer models are very different. I had some weird electrical gremlins a while back, and it manifested in some bizarre ways. Have you noticed any other electrical oddities? Like, any flickering lights or the infotainment system acting up? It could still be the sensor, but sometimes these things have knock-on effects. Did you try clearing the error memory to see if it comes back?

That's interesting! No flickering lights or infotainment glitches that I've noticed, thankfully. Just this collection of fog-related malfunctions! I did try clearing the error memory, but the fault reappears almost immediately after starting the engine. You mentioned electrical gremlins - did yours involve anything similar, and how did you end up fixing it? Maybe there's a common connection?

Okay, the rapid reappearance of the error code points towards a more persistent issue. My electrical problem was different – my driver assistance system was going haywire, constantly beeping and flashing warnings for no reason. It turned out to be a corroded connector in the bumper. Given all the symptoms you're describing, especially with the air conditioning and mirror heating being affected, I'd say you're right about a cable or connection issue being the likely culprit. To be honest, with that many problems, it might be worth taking it to a workshop. It's hard to diagnose electrical issues without proper tools.

Thanks a bunch for sharing your experience! It's good to know I'm not alone in this Nissan electrical madness. You're right, probably best to get a professional to look at it before I make things worse. Dropped it off at the workshop, they confirmed it was a faulty connector to the fog sensor, just like we suspected! Total cost was 95€ including labour. Appreciate the advice!
