Ractis boost pressure sensor issue

I'm having trouble with my 2013 Toyota Ractis (gasoline engine) with about 124750 km on it. The check engine light came on, and I've noticed some concerning symptoms. When I accelerate, the car jerks, and there's a whistling noise that turns into a loud hissing sound at higher speeds. Sometimes, the engine stalls when idling. Fuel consumption seems up, and the engine doesn't feel like it has the same power. I suspect it might be a bad boost pressure sensor, possibly due to a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone experienced anything similar?

I have a Ractis and those symptoms sound awfully familiar. A whistling noise that becomes a hiss, plus the jerking? Sounds like your turbo system might be the culprit, specifically a boost leak. Think of it like a punctured tire – you lose pressure and performance. Check the air intake system thoroughly. A faulty boost pressure sensor could indeed trigger those issues. Has the engine light come on?

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, the check engine light is on. Do you recall if the error code pointed directly to the boost pressure sensor, or was it something more generic? I'm trying to narrow down the problem before I start tearing things apart.

The error code was fairly generic, pointing towards the turbo system. Given the symptoms and your mileage, I'd lean towards the boost pressure sensor or related connections. I would highly recommend getting it checked at a shop. They have tools and diagnostic capabilities that can save you a lot of time and potential damage.

Thanks again for the advice. I took it to a local mechanic. Turns out the boost pressure sensor was indeed faulty due to a damaged connector, just as suspected. They replaced the sensor and repaired the wiring. The total cost came to about 95€. The car is running much better now – no more jerking, hissing, or stalling!
